Our Vetting Process

In order to attend SMK events, you must go through the process of being vetted. The steps are outlined below.

Note: you do not need to be vetted to attend Munches or Discussion Nights.

Please read through the entire process before beginning so you can make a fully informed decision.

Begin by friending or following the Southwest Michigan Kink profile swm_kink

STEP ONE:

To begin the vetting process, you must do one of the three following things:

Choose only one of the following 3 options in Step one

1. If you've attended events in the past

You can attend a minimum of three Munches and/or Discussion Nights or have attended previous parties.
You must engage with and/or have conversations with community event organizers.
You must demonstrate knowledge of our Behavioral Standards and Expectations and Rules/Etiquette and agree to abide by them.

2. If you have not attended local events but know someone who is vetted

You may have a currently vetted community member in good standing vouch for you. You should ensure that the individual you are asking to vouch for you understands that their standing in the community, as well as their vetted status can be affected by your behavior at our events.

This can be accomplished by having the currently vetted individual send a Fetlife message to the SMK profile with the answers to the following questions:

• What is the Fetlife name of the person you are vouching for?
• How do you know the person you are vetting?
• How would you characterize their behavior within your community/at your local events?
• Are you aware of any inappropriate behavior or consent violations by this individual?

And

You must demonstrate knowledge of our Behavioral Standards and Expectations and Rules/Etiquette and agree to abide by them.

3. If neither of the above apply and you would like to attend

You may provide the names of three active members of your current community who will vouch for your behavior and character within that community.

You may provide the name of one verifiable event organizer in your local community who will vouch for your behavior and character at their events.

Then

Have each individual send a Fetlife message to the SMK profile with the answers to the following questions:

You must demonstrate knowledge of our Behavioral Standards and Expectations and Rules/Etiquette and agree to abide by them.

STEP TWO:

Once you’ve completed one of the above three steps, please find our “So you’d like to be vetted" form and fill it out. Once a determination has been made, you will be notified via the email listed in the form.

Note: We require a valid current email address for communication. For your safety and privacy, we encourage you to create/use a kink only email based on your Fet name.

STEP THREE:

If it is determined that you are vetted, in the determination email there will be a link to join the vetted members only group on Fetlife. This group is where we will be posting links to purchase tickets for all future events and other information pertinent to events for vetted members. Do not Share the Links or other event information with anyone not in the group

Food for Thought…

We understand that not everyone has an interest in being involved in their local community. We also understand this may seem like a lot of hoops to jump through in order to attend our events. We respect your autonomy and your decision should you wish to not be vetted. If this is the case, we wish you all the best in finding an event with which you are compatible.
